The Bible Gateway Verse of the Day is a feature we have offered on our websites for some time. Unfortunately, the Verse of the Day is no longer available to use in the UK, however, we have an alternative that you can add to your site.
The new verse of the day is provided by Bibliatodo, and can be embedded into a Text Widget on your homepage.
Once added, it will work in just the same way as the previous widget did, and will update itself daily with a new verse and image.
To add the new widget, you will need to get the widget code from the Bibliatodo website, which you will find here.
Simply click the Copy button, that you will see underneath the code, to copy it to your clipboard.
On your website, you will need to log in to Global Office, click Design Builder in the top menu, and click the orange pencil button to the right of the design that is in use on your site.
You'll then need to find the Daily Message widget and click the dustbin button, in the bottom left corner, to remove the widget. It will be replaced by a placeholder with an Add Widget button.
Next, you'll need to click the Add Widget button and select the Text Widget from the options that appear.
Click inside the new widget to bring up the Edit window, and then click the Source button in the toolbar at the top of the editor.
You can then paste the code that you copied from the Bibliatodo site, into your widget, and click the Source button again. You should then see a box, with the word iFrame in the middle, which means the Verse of the Day has been added.
For the Verse of the Day to display best, you should double click on the iFrame box and change the width setting to 100%, the height should be fine as it is.
Then click the OK button at the bottom of the Properties window, if you've changed the iFrame width, and the Save button at the bottom of the Edit window.
Finally, to make your changes live and to see the widget appear on your homepage, click the Publish button at the top right of the Design Builder window, then click the Publish button at the bottom of the Publish Page pop up.
And that's it! You should now have a new Verse of the Day widget appearing on your homepage.
