Selling with PayPal

PayPal - selling items on your Church website

An e-commerce module will be added to Church Edit in the future which will allow Churches and Ministries to sell items through their website.

In the meantime there are various options to use if you wish to sell something online. The following spotlight article will show you how to setup a PayPal account and then use it to sell products through your website.

PayPal is a leading internet solution allowing users to make and receive payments online. Setting up a PayPal account is free to do and you will only be charged a percentage of the transaction value (see the PayPal website for more details). Please note that Church Edit cannot offer technical support for setting up the PayPal account - see https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_contact_us for ways in which to contact PayPal.

1) Setting Up the PayPal Account

Go to PayPal.co.uk and in the top right corner click on 'Sign Up' where you will be asked what type of account you require - Select option 2 Premier Account

Select your country of residence and then go to the next page

The next form will require you to enter all your personal details such as name and address.

If you agree with the PayPal ‘User Agreement and Privacy Policy' then select ‘Yes' at the bottom of the page.

Once the page has been completed press ‘Sign Up' to go to the next step

If the details you entered are valid then you will receive an email from PayPal which contains a website link. This link must be pressed to validate that you entered a correct email address.

Once you click on this link you will be asked to enter your password (which you created in the previous form). Once you have entered your password correctly you see have the message ‘You have confirmed email@domain.com .'

Press ‘Continue' to go to your PayPal Homepage

2) Enter Bank Information

Now that your PayPal account has been set up you will need to enter your bank information. The bank information will be the account that funds from your PayPal account are transferred to.

Click on Profile in the PayPal homepage then select Bank Accounts under the Financial Information column.

Follow these steps to enter the bank accounts details of your organisation and complete the Direct Debit information.

To confirm that you entered the correct information for your bank account PayPal will make 2 small deposits into your account.

Within a week of doing this and once the deposits have been made into your account you should click on the ‘Set Up Bank Funding' link on the homepage of your PayPal account. You do not need to wait for this to be completed before selling items on your website so you can continue with the rest of this tutorial to add buttons to your website.
